The Mathika Matha Felicitation Building constructed in Vaishakha College, affiliated with Lindsay Girls’ College of Colombo, was ceremonially handed over to the students of the school by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, at a ceremony held under the patronage of Most Ven. Thirikunamale Ananda Thera, Chief Prelate of Dharmarakshitha Nikaya of Amarapura and the Chief Incumbent of Siri Vajiraramaya.
The building was constructed with the private funds offered by Mathika Matha (Mrs. Sri Devi Silva) and several other philanthropists. It will facilitate the education of the students of the primary section of Lindsay Girls’ College.
Mrs. Sri Devi Silva has immensely contributed to the development of the Vaishakha College founded in 1935 by E.S. Fernando, a famous philanthropist of Wellawatta.
