Chief Government Whip and Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said in Parliament yesterday that SJB MP Harsha de Silva is frustrated because he did not get the Chairmanship of the Finance Committee.
The Minister also said that MP Harsha de Silva, who did not help the country to recover when it fell, is now expressing various vicious statements after failing to get this post.
Minister Ranatunga also said the Opposition is trying to create a wrong ideology in the country. It is not in the Standing Orders that a person nominated by the Opposition should be appointed as the Chairman. The Standing Orders clearly state that someone from the Opposition should be appointed. Therefore, someone from the Opposition was appointed.
We did not appoint anyone from the ruling party. There was absolutely no violation of Standing Orders in the appointment of MP Mayantha Dissanayake as the Chairman of the Finance Committee.
