The 9th World Conference on Media and Mass Communication, held from May 09 -10 at Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka, concluded with resounding success. Organised by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), the conference brought together over 100+ International participants from across the globe on a hybrid platform.

With the theme “Reshaping and Challenging the Neoliberal Model: Evolving Practices in Crisis, Conflict, and Creative Communication” the MEDCOM 2024 conference aimed at providing a central platform for the dissemination of contemporary research findings, expert opinions, recommendations, and visionary insights pertaining to the field of Media and Mass Communication. The event featured a diverse range of interactive opportunities, including panel discussions, keynote addresses by renowned climate change researchers, group deliberations, publication workshops, and networking sessions.
The conference was Co-Chaired by Prof. Andrea Volterrani from Italy, Dr. Chris Fenner from USA, and Dr. Tülây Atay from Turkey. Greatly admired Keynote and Plenary Speakers included Professor Ranjan Hettiarachchi from Sri Lanka, Assoc. Prof Dr. Sara Chinnasamy from Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Pembecioglu from Turkey, and Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti from India.
The Sri Lankan Convention Bureau (SLCB) served as the main sponsor of MEDCOM 2024, highlighting its commitment to supporting events that drive progress in sustainability. The conference attracted participants from over 25 countries and represented more than 50 Universities worldwide.
A special networking session and publication workshop was also integral parts of the conference, fostering collaborations and knowledge-sharing among participants. The Conference also hosted a Networking Dinner in Lotus Tower Rooftop.
MEDCOM 2024 marked nine years of success, with over 2,000 participants and affiliations with 250 universities. The conference successfully fulfilled its objectives of facilitating knowledge exchange, networking opportunities, research visibility, and professional growth. Attendees also benefited from career advancement opportunities, publication support, quality reviewing, and collaborative research opportunities with international researchers. MEDCOM 2025 is scheduled to be held in Bangkok, Thailand in April 2025.
