Methvan Wijemanne emerged as the champion in a thrilling Boys Under 18 category final held at the Queen’s Club Tennis Championships 2023 currently in progress at the Queen’s Club Tennis Courts, featuring exciting matches and standout performances.
Methvan, representing Royal College, defeated Ganuka Fernando with a score of 7/5, 6/2. Earlier in the semi-final, Methvan secured a victory against Nithila Goonethilake with the same scoreline of 7/5, 6/2. Impressively, in the quarter final, Methvan dominated Ransath Peiris with a straight-set win of 4/0, 4/0.
Turning to the Girls Under 16 category, the quarterfinal matches were filled with intense competition. Yuhansa Peries triumphed over Eliza Kahagalle with a scoreline of 2/4, 4/1, 11/09. Sandithi Usgodaarachchchi secured a victory against Venuli Jayasinghe with a score of 4/1, 4/2. Ruvi Lewke Bandara faced a close battle against Vinethya Dharmarathne, ultimately winning 4/1, 3/5, 10/05. Gehansa Methnadi displayed a strong performance, defeating Hesara Mihamya with a score of 4/1, 4/1.
