Police have managed to identify several suspects involved in the shooting and killing of the owner of a restaurant located in Kanahena Watte, Midigama. Necessary measures were taken yesterday (31) to impose a travel ban on one of the suspects.
The restaurant owner named Sasindu Sandaruwan Dodangoda (32) was shot by a person who arrived in a car in the evening of March 29. He had been hospitalized subsequently and died on the morning of March 30.
The shooter had come in a Wagon R vehicle bearing number CAQ 1484. Police found this car on Thursday (30) while it was abandoned in Imaduwa. The cartridge case of the ammunition of the T-56 weapon that was used to shoot was found inside the vehicle. The car had been rented from Matara, by a resident of Midigama. Police said that he is in hiding.
Police also said that this businessman had conflicts with Harak Kata. He had been shot by Harak Kata’s henchmen, on December 20, 2021 based on a contract given by Harak Kata, police
said. He had survived that shooting. After this incident, there had been no threat against the life of the restaurant owner.
A top police officer said that an extensive investigation is underway, to find out whether the restaurant owner was shot dead by Harak Kata’s minions, with the arrest of Harak Kata, or whether he was killed by a separate group based on another dispute.
