Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj called for restoring children’s mental freedom, moral development and childhood lost to increasing competition, in her message issued for World Children’s Day.
Highlighting this year’s theme, “Strong Minds – Enriched Children,” the Minister emphasized that society has a responsibility to see children for who they are and who they aspire to become, rather than projecting adult expectations onto them. She added that the true development of a country is reflected in the smiles of its children.
Guided by the vision “A Safer World for Children – A Creative Future Generation,” the Ministry remains committed to treating every child without discrimination based on nationality, religion, economic background, or social status.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring physical and mental well being, safeguarding rights and providing necessary opportunities, she urged children to face the world with pride as the future generation of a strong Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
