A minor tremor was reported in the Morawewa area of Trincomalee District yesterday, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) said.
The GSMB further stated that the tremor with a magnitude of 3.4 in the Richter Scale had been felt at around 1.15 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Sanjeeva Hettiarachchi, Senior Geologist of the GSMB, said that the tremor occurred between Morawewa and Mahadivulwewa areas. Hettiarachchi said that the tremor had been felt by people living in Trincomalee, Kantale, Gomarankadawala, Horowpathana. He said this is the 14th tremor that has been reported in the country this year.
No reports of any damages to property was reported, he added.
