An 81 year old man from Bulathkohupitiya has died reportedly after a kurumba fruit dropped by a toque macaque (rilava) hit his head.
The incident occurred close to his house recently. A monkey on the tree reportedly dropped a Kurumba, which hit the man’s head and neck area. Following the incident, he was admitted to the Kegalle Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit for treatment.
The man was later taken home by his relatives but experienced a relapse in his condition, prompting another trip to the hospital. Despite intensive care treatment, he succumbed last Friday.
Bulathkohupitiya police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
