A top-ranked Police officer stated that since the murder of SriLankan Airlines Transport officer K. A. Indrakumara Fernando (61) has become a mystery as of now, a comprehensive investigation is being conducted.
This officer said that the information regarding this death was contradictory and a thorough investigation has to be done.
Indrakumara, who resided at Udugampola Road, Kotugoda, Gampaha, was stabbed and admitted to Gampaha Hospital on August 3. He died on August 6, while undergoing treatment there.
Indrakumara’s family members have also raised suspicions that this murder was committed by the person who painted the house sometime ago. It was because there had been some dispute between the two of them because some more money had to be given for the painting.
The painter residing in Makevita Siyambalapitiya had also been brought to the Police and questioned. There, the painter had told the Police officers that the problem was resolved a few months ago and that he had no dispute with Indrakumara after that. He had mentioned to the Police that he had lodged a complaint against Indrakumara at the Gampaha Police Station and when it was inquired into, Indrakumara had paid him the Rs.20,000 that he owed. This has been confirmed during the investigation done by the Minuwangoda Police. Investigations have also confirmed that this person had not been in the area when Indrakumara was stabbed.
Police said that Indrakumara had been watching TV while his wife and daughters had gone to church and returned home.Police also said that the maid had told the wife about the stabbing after a while. Indrakumara had been taken to the hospital after that.
Police say that this stabbing has now become an investigation with many suspicious incidents tangled together. Police said that investigations to identify those responsible for this crime are currently underway by resolving those doubts one by one.
