The National Member Convention of the Sri Lanka Jama’athe Islami was held under the theme ‘Noble Life, Prosperous Land’ at the BMICH on Saturday (29). Sri Lanka Jama’athe Islami’s President, Ash-Sheikh M. H. M. Ussair Islahi was present. The convention consisted of three sessions. During the Guests’ Session, North Western Province Governor Hafiz Nazeer Ahmed, MP A. H. M Fowzie and former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya participated.

Ash-Sheikh Arkam Nooramith, General Secretary of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama; Faisz Mustapha P.C., Chancellor of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, Ven. Galkande Dhammananda Thera, Director of Walpola Rahula Institute; Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, President of Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement; Prof. Sumathi Sivamohan and Dr. Jehan Perera, Executive Director of the National Peace Council, M. H. M. Asmi and Moulavia Najmun Nisa from the host organisation also addressed.
The event featured the signing of MoU with three national-level organisations, Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement, Healthy Lanka and IRES.
A documentary about the Sri Lanka Jama’athe Islami was screened, and a commemorative 70th anniversary souvenir was launched.
The convention was attended by 1,500 members and over 500 dignitaries from different ethnic and religious communities.
