Sri Lanka Navy SC and Sri Lanka Air Force SC clinched the Men’s and Women’s Gold Medal respectively at the 2022/23 Defence Services Games Handball Tournament, held at the New Saniro Airport Sports Complex Hotel in Dewalapola, Minuwangoda.
Navy SC defeated Sri Lanka Army SC 35-28 in the Men’s final while Air Force SC had the better of Army SC 17-14 in the Women’s final of this tournament, which was organised by Sri Lanka Navy.
Earlier, Navy SC made it to the Men’s final of this tournament with an exciting win over Sri Lanka Air Force SC in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Prasad de Silva was named as the Best Attacker, Sanjeewa Silva was selected as the Best Goalkeeper and Pradeep Wijendra won the Best Player Award in the Men’s Tournament.
H. B. D. Dharmawardana was named as the Best Goalkeeper while S. Munidasa won the Best Player Award in the Women’s Tournament. Director Sports of Sri Lanka Navy, Commodore Roshan Athukorala, was the Chief Guest at the finals.
