The Sri Lanka Navy has placed 171 Disaster Relief Teams, comprising 700 naval personnel, on standby to respond to flooding and sudden landslides amid the prevailing adverse weather conditions.
The Navy said the teams are prepared to evacuate residents from high-risk areas and assist in relocating them to safer locations if required.
It added that relief operations remain ongoing across affected areas to safeguard lives and support the public as severe weather continues to impact parts of the country. (Newswire)
