Former Minister Sagala Rathnayake who is contesting the General election for the Colombo district yesterday said his party – the United National Party had only one member in the last parliament.
Rathnayake who is contesting the election from the National Democratic Front this time said that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe will not be contesting the election next month.
“This decision is in accordance with the party’s longstanding tradition that UNP leaders do not seek re-election to parliament after having served as President of the country,” he said.
Meanwhile former Minister Susil Premajayantha said that the NDF has nominated a strong team for each district.
