New access road lends potential to develop tourist facilities to Udawalawe National Park

Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya discussing the moves being taken to promote tourism facilities in connection with the Balangoda Hadagiriya new access road to Udawalawe National Park.

Moves are underway to promote tourism facilities in connection with the Balangoda Hadagiriya new access road to Udawalawe National Park, Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya said.

He said this while joining the discussion related to the programme to promote tourism facilities at the Udawalawe National Park entrance road starting from Balangoda Hadagiriya, at the Provincial Council Complex yesterday.

Chief Secretary Weerasuriya said that this project will be implemented under the guidance of the Wildlife and Forest Conservation Ministry. Apart from the access road to Udawalawe National Park from the Balangoda Hadagiriya area at present, the main access road of Udawalawe Park starts from Udawalawa area.

With the proposed programme it has been planned to improve the facilities at both gates especially at the new entrance from Bakamgoda.

“Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council is expected to promote tourism facilities through this new programme,” he added. Ratnapura District Secretary Wasantha Gunaratne, Provincial Tourism Ministry Secretary Chamara Bamunuarachchi and others attended the meeting.
