Attorney-at-Law Supun Wijeratne has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the National Youth Services Council, which was vacant following the resignation of Chinthaka Hewapathirana.
He is a Law graduate from the Open University and also served as the Chairman of the Moratuwa Youth Society Regional Federation and the Vice Chairman of the Colombo District Youth Society Federation.
Supun Wijeratne, who is also a member of the Fourth Youth Parliament, has served as the Colombo District Group Leader of the Youth Parliament.
His appointment is unique as it is the first time in history that a person who represented the Youth Social Movement and the Youth Parliament has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Youth Services Council and the Director General of Youth Affairs in Sri Lanka.
