New revised cost reflective meal prices for MPs

The Parliamentary House Committee which met yesterday (23) has decided to increase the daily prices charged from MPs when purchasing food from the Parliament canteen.

Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake who is a member of the Parliamentary House Committee said that the daily price charged from MPs for food purchased from the Parliament

canteen has been raised from Rs. 450 to Rs. 2,000 increasing the daily price by Rs 1,550.

Accordingly, the price of a breakfast meal in the Parliament canteen has been increased from Rs.100 to Rs.600, a lunch meal has been increased from Rs.300 to Rs.1,200 and the price of a cup of tea has been increased from Rs. 50 to Rs. 200.

The Deputy Minister said that these new prices are scheduled to be implemented from next week.
