Addalaichenai New Star Sports Club team beat Sainthamaruthu Red Max Sports Club cricket team by 25 runs in the final to emerge champions of the ‘Eastern Fighters Champion Trophy-2022’ of the eight – a – side limited 05 overs cricket tournament conducted by Eastern Fighters Sports Club at the Fowzy Play Grounds, Sainthamaruthu recently.
Altogether 22 prominent cricket teams from the Ampara district took part in the tournament.
Addalaichenai New Star Sports Club cricket team batted first scored 54 runs at the end of 5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sainthamaruthu Red Max team, in reply, scored 30 runs in their allocated 5 overs. Man of the Series award was won by Rasa and the Man of the Match award was secured by Abras of Addalaichenai New Star Sports Club. The awards ceremony and final match were held under the patronage of the Eastern Fighters Sports Club Co-ordinator L.M. Zibnas.
Sports Officer and Sainthamaruthu Sports Clubs Federation Secretary A.M.Rizad, Eastern Province Computer Technology Forum Director U.L.N. Hutha Umar, Red Max Establishment Director A.N.M. Javid, Eastern Fighters SC officials, and many others participated as guests at the award ceremony.
Winners were awarded a trophy and Rs. 6,000.00 cash prize and the Sainthamaruthu Red Max team Sports Club cricket team was awarded the trophy and a cash prize.
