Minuwangoda Magistrate T. Thenabadu yesterday (22) rejected the bail for the mother who had allegedly sold her 14-year-old daughter to people, and the two other suspects who sexually abused the girl. They were ordered to be remanded till September 5.
Negombo Prison Superintendent was also ordered to present the three suspects to a specialist of the Negombo General Hospital to ascertain that these suspects had any mental or social diseases. It was mentioned in the court that the girl’s brother-in-law has also been remanded by court on the charges of sexually abusing the girl. Divulapitiya Police informed court that the investigation to arrest more suspects related to the sexual abuse of the girl has not been completed.
