No night time power cuts in weekend

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) Chairman Janaka Rathnayake said power cuts will not be imposed in nights during the weekend and the daytime power interruption will also be limited to three hours only in areas under the Group A, B and C.

Rathnayake when contacted by the Daily News said the Ceylon Electricity Board has been directed to not to impose power cuts in nights during the weekend.

“The Commission issued directives to the CEB suspending power interruption in night during the weekend as the people had been going through tough time during past few days”, he said

He said that power cuts will only be 2 and 30 minutes and 3 hours during the day time today before 5 p.m. based on the category of the area.

Rathnayake added that there won’t be any power interruption on Sunday except for areas that come under A B and C category.

These areas will get only 2 hours and 30 minutes power cut during the day time on Sunday.
