Finance State Minister Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that there is still 19,000 metric tonnes of imported sugar in the country and therefore there is no chance of a sugar shortage or unnecessary price increase.
He said if sugar is being sold at increased prices or there are attempts to create an unnecessary shortage, the Consumer Service Authority should be informed about such cases.
