“There is speculation whether President Ranil Wickremesinghe will attempt a last-minute tactic to prevent the National People’s Power (NPP) from winning the election. However, I can assure you that no one can stop the NPP from achieving victory”, said NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
At a public rally in Minuwangoda on Tuesday (27), he stated, “This time, the majority of Government servants, Police and Army personnel support the NPP. Even retired Police and Army Officers are on our side. Therefore, no one can stop the NPP from coming into power, Ranil Wickremesinghe will not be able to use any tactics,” he added.
“There is no future for the country without getting rid of this corrupt political system. In an NPP government, that is exactly what we will do. However, we will do so lawfully. Our country is well-known for post-election violence. We do not endorse violence. We urge the public to do the same.”
“The country cannot be developed solely by eliminating corruption, but it is necessary to do so, in order to develop the country.”
“Some people claim to make Sri Lanka a Singapore. But that is not possible. Only Singapore can be a Singapore. A country’s development path is determined by its location, natural resources, foreign relations, the culture the country has developed, and the nature of its human resources. We cannot simply adopt strategies from other countries for our country’s development”.
“Other countries around the world take care of their citizens. They strive to improve people’s lives. But in Sri Lanka, all previous governments have only looked after their own families. But the NPP will establish a government that prioritises the welfare of the people.”
