An apprentice police constable has been arrested by the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau for giving a fake educational certificate to join the police service.
A police constable attached to the Chavakachcheriya Police Station was thus arrested and released on bail after
being produced before the Mount Lavinia courts.
This officer joined the police service in 2020. The Fraud Investigation Bureau states that that he had failed the subject of mathematics and the GCE Ordinary Level and had produced a fake certificate showing he had passed the Ordinary Level Maths subject as failing maths is a disqualification to join the police service.
