NPP is against building an export-oriented economy – Harsha

SJB MP Dr. Harsha De Silva said that the National People’s Power is against building an export-oriented economy.

He was addressing the media at the SJB office in Colombo.De Silva said, “Sunil Handunnetti and Dr.Harshana Suriyapperuma have filed a case in this regard in the Supreme Court. It is mentioned in that case that it is against the country’s constitution to try to change Sri Lanka to an export-oriented economy by reducing the emphasis on import substitution in our country’s economy.

Therefore, they say that if an export-oriented economy is to be created, a referendum should be held with a two-thirds vote.

That is the ideology of the National People’s Power. The NPP is against building an export-oriented economy.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya is in a 180 degree different direction. Our thinking is we need to create new jobs in the country, create products that are not produced in the country at present, create new services, and provide new technology. Therefore, these things cannot be done without adding Sri Lanka to the world. If the NPP is against it and says it is against the constitution if they come to power it can cause unprecedented harm to the country”.
