National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that a majority of the candidates contesting in the upcoming Presidential Election are representatives of major political Parties. He noted that this was evident during the nomination process, where many Party representatives were present.
Speaking to the media, after receiving blessings from the Chief Prelates of the Buddhist Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters, Dissanayake highlighted the overwhelming presence of individuals who accompanied the candidates from the major Parties. “Though only two representatives are allowed to accompany each candidate during the Nomination process, it was apparent that a significant number of people were present alongside the leaders of the major Parties,” he remarked.
Dissanayake further criticised the Nomination process, stating, “We observed representatives from some parties, with as many as 10 to 12 people accompanying the candidates. This clearly shows that these candidates are mainly from the major Parties. This process is only leading to the unnecessary waste of the country’s resources. The blame for this falls on the responsibilities of these candidates. Our country has fallen into this state due to corruption and fraud. The only Party capable of stopping this is the National People’s Power.
