The National System Operator (NSO) has dismissed reports claiming that several power plants have suffered breakdowns following the nationwide electricity failure, confirming that no generating plant breakdowns have been reported.
In its latest update, the NSO said all hydropower plants that were operational before the grid failure remain operational and are currently being used to restore electricity supplies.
The NSO clarified that the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant was shut down in accordance with standard procedures following the system failure, rather than due to a mechanical breakdown.
The operator said electricity supplies have been successfully restored area by area since noon.
The NSO expects the national electricity grid to be restored by around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday (October 17).
The clarification follows reports that multiple power generation facilities had suffered breakdowns after the nationwide blackout. (Newswire)
