The strike by nurses and paramedics will resume on March 2 and 3, Federation of Health Professionals Convener Ravi Kumudesh said yesterday (27). He attributed the strike to the failure of authorities to address the issue of pay inequality, overtime and allowances for paramedics and nurses.
The strike will be held on March 2 and 3 in all hospitals in the country and emergency and essential services will be maintained, he said.
He said the Unions had decided not to implement the strike in all pediatric hospitals, maternity hospitals, cancer hospitals, kidney hospitals, infectious disease institutes, National Mental Health Institute and Central Blood Bank and other places which deliver essential treatments.
He also said that if the two sides failed to reach a just settlement within two days of the strike, they would resort for an indefinite strike without further notice after March 10.
