Nuwan D’ Alwis appointed to Board of Directors at CPC

Nuwan D’ Alwis, Attorney-at-Law appointed to the Board of Directors at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).

A product of S.Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and an alumnus of Sri Lanka Law College. While at Law College, he won the A.C ‘Bunty’ de Soyza P.C. Gold medal for best mooter and the Sir Cyril De Soyza Gold medal for oratory (twice).

Prior to joining the Legal fraternity, D’ Alwis pursued a Bachelor of Commerce at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia majoring in Marketing and International Business. While at the ANU, he was selected to the Vice Chancellor’s Student Leadership Programme and was appointed a Senior Residential Scholar.

Upon his graduation from the ANU, D’ Alwis followed a corporate career in blue-chip multinational companies. D’ Alwis serves in the unofficial bar specialising in corporate governance. He advises several private and public sector companies on sustainable and ethical legal practices. As a trial lawyer in the original courts as well as legal practitioner of the appellate courts, he has been involved in some of the most sensational trials and appeals in corporate and criminal law, writs, and fundamental rights applications.

He has also participated in several Presidential Commissions of Inquiry.

He has been trained in corporate governance, cybersecurity law, intellectual property law and digital infringement, anti-money laundering, whistleblower protection and deferred prosecution arrangements.

Nuwan has also represented Sri Lanka overseas across a plethora of countries which include Australia, Lithuania and Japan.
