A man died and two neighboring women have been hospitalised after being injured in an axe attack in the Ransegoda area of Kamburupitiya at around 10.00 am on January 17, over a personal dispute.
The deceased has been identified as Paranagamage Chandrasiri, 65, a resident of Mudaligedara, Ransegoda, Peelahena, Kamburupitiya.
Two neighboring women, Vatsala Dissanayake and Suchinthani Wickramage, who intervened to prevent the attack, were injured and admitted to the Kamburupitiya Base Hospital.
The suspect is a suspended prison officer and has been arrested. The suspect was scheduled to be produced before the Court and further investigations are ongoing.
