One employee at every workplace should know first aid – Red Cross

Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Senior Vice President Jagath Abeysinghe said that it will be useful to have at least one employee with formal first aid training in every Government institution.

This is due to the fact that many accidents are reported within the workplace.

First aid training programmes for the employees of the public and private sectors are already being carried out all over the island, Abeysinghe said.

Sri Lanka Red Cross Badulla Branch Executive R.P.R.K Piyaratne said that this programme is being implemented successfully in the Uva Province, and so far, this first aid training programme has been conducted for nearly 300 employees of the Uva Provincial offices of the Ceylon Electricity Board and Foreign Employment Bureau and Bandarawela Divisional Secretariat.

First aid instructors T.G.N. Kumara and D.M.W. Bandara said that five more institutions have requested for this training.
