People are well aware that only the United National Party (UNP) headed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe has plans to uplift this country, said Deputy Leader and the District Leader of Gampaha of UNP Ruwan Wijewardena.
He stated this addressing the Gampaha District Convention of the UNP held at the Yakkala Town Hall on Saturday (10).
Wijewardena said the country which was in bankruptcy about two years ago was brought back into a stable situation as the President accepted that challenge while many of the political leaders were hesitant and afraid to do so.
“This year is going to be an election year. We have to face a Presidential Election, General Election and also a Provincial Council Election from October onwards. Your role as citizens is very decisive in this situation to decide the country’s future”, the Deputy Leader said.
He said President Wickremesinghe is well aware that people are having difficulties. However, he is the only person to have plans to decrease the Cost of Living and provide relief to the people of this country. It is difficult to grant economic relief to the whole country together and immediately after a bankrupt situation, he pointed out.
UNP Chairman MP Vajira Abeywardana, General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara, Vice President Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and several other party activists also addressed the gathering.
