Order to suspend soft liquor licences withdrawn

The order to suspend the licence of soft liquor issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Promotion Authority to approved establishments has been withdrawn with immediate effect.

The Excise Commissioner General ordered to withdraw the order given on October 18 to suspend the permission given for the use of soft liquor including beer and wine for hotels, restaurants and tourism establishments that provide accommodation and services to tourists registered by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Promotion Authority with immediate effect.

The Commissioner General of Excise has made this order according to an order given by the Court of Appeal today regarding the cases pending in Court.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Promotion Authority’s registered hotels, restaurants and travel agencies that provide accommodation and services to tourists operating under the permits issued for the use of soft liquor can use their soft liquor licence without hindrance.
