Over 13,000 polling stations for General Election

The Election Commission (EC) stated that polling stations will be set up for the Parliamentary Election on November 14 based on the number of registered voters Accordingly, 1,204 polling stations will be set up for 1,765,351 voters in the Colombo district.

The Gampaha district, which has the largest number of registered voters, will have 1,212 polling stations for 1,881,129 voters. Mannar district which has the lowest number of registered voters will be having 108 polling stations for 90,607 voters.

The Kalutara district will have 735 polling stations for 1,024,244 voters. As a whole, the EC has taken steps to set up 13,421 polling stations with 2,034 counting centres throughout the country for the 2024 Parliamentary Election.

A total of 17,430,354 citizens have qualified to vote for the 2024 Parliamentary Elections, the Election Commission said.

Meanwhile, Elections Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake said that Sunday, November 03, has been designated as a special day for the distribution of official polling cards for the 2024 Parliamentary Election, during a press conference held yesterday (28).
