Palm Garden Village A’pura re-brands as luxury heritage hotel with Rs 500 mn investment

Palm Garden Village Hotel Anuradhapura, the first three star hotel in Anuradhapura will be totally re-branded as a luxury heritage hotel bringing back to life the ancient Rajarata kingdom architecture.

Managing Director of Palm Garden Village and the creator of global award winning Forest Rock Garden Resort Hotel B. Chandrasiri said that they will invest around Rs. 500 million for this and construction has already started but is making slow progress as it is done with great care as not to disturb the tranquility of current local and foreign guests who are patronizing the hotel.

Chandrasiri who is a qualified architect and chef from Italian Universities said that he loves nature and has a great respect for ancient Rajarata kingdom architecture.

“After building the Forest Rock Garden Resort in Anuradhapura and the subsequent overwhelming response I received from both guests and travel agents, I knew that hotels highlighting ancient Sri Lankan culture were in big demand. ‘This is the main reason I decided to reincarnate Rajarata Kingdom at Palm Garden Village Hotel Anuradhapura.’

He recalled that when he built and opened the hotel in the 1980’s in a bare land many requested him not to invest as the LTTE terror was at its peak. “However I had confidence that Sri Lanka and tourism will bounce back and it did and similarly I believe that the C-19 pandemic too would end and high end tourists will visit Sri Lanka again even in bigger numbers. This is the market I want to attract, offering them not just concrete luxury but an authentic experience that goes with the ancient architecture. But luxury too would not be compromised.”

Chandrasiri said that he planted over 800 trees while building Palm Garden Village hotel and this time he created a seven acre lake to give a true feeling of nature to his guests. He said that the swimming pool was also rebuilt and a bar and a club house too was introduced. The hotel also won many local and international awards and the last award was the Asia’s Most Trusted Company 2019 award from the International Brand Consulting Corporation, USA and was presented in Thailand. The hotel also has one of the largest banquet halls in the region which is not only popular for weddings but for corporate ad MICE events as well.
