A police constable had to spend a night behind bars and was subsequently suspended from duty after he was found to have consumed alcohol, during a sudden inspection of the Police post where he was deployed for night duty in Galgamuwa on Sunday night.
After being presented to the Galgamuwa Forensic Medical Officer for a check up, the officer was kept in the Police cell during the night. A senior Police officer mentioned that an investigation is being held regarding the Police Constable’s conduct and he was suspended from work as of yesterday (17).
