NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday said that his victory at the Presidential Election marks the reunion of people in the North and the East with those in the rest of the country.
He said that for the first time of the history, working masses of the country have received an opportunity to elect a leader of their choice at this election. He said this while addressing the NPP election rally held in Kilinochchi yesterday.
“We know that there has been a big change in the young people living in the Northern Province. The new generation has got rid of the old politics.
For the first time in the history of our country, the working class have got the opportunity to gain power. The NPP can win this election held on September 21. Find out from those you know how postal voting was used in government offices, Army camps, police stations. In all those places, the voter turnout for the NPP has exceeded 75 to 80 percent. Therefore, we have no doubt about the victory. But it is not enough for us to win only with the votes of the people of the south. We also need the votes of the people of the North,”he said.
In order to solve the problems of these regions, several things must be completed. Children should be given good education. We have made a very strong program in this regard. It is necessary to fill teacher vacancies in schools and increase their facilities. We will change this education system, which is a burden for children and parents. Plans will be afoot to bring the country’s education to a better place.
No matter how hard we work, our parents have not been able to give their children a good education today.
