Police have issued a public warning regarding a new type of financial scam occurring near Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) , urging the people to remain vigilant against fraudsters exploiting public helpfulness.
According to the police, scammers loiter around CDM units claiming they are unable to deposit their own funds and ask unsuspecting citizens to exchange cash, often starting with a Rs. 500 note. When victims point out the cash they handed over, the fraudsters mislead them by denying receipt to steal their money.
Authorities advise the public to exercise extreme caution when using automated banking machines and to immediately report any suspicious activities to the police. (Newswire)
