A sergeant attached to the Avissawella Police and his 17-year-old son were arrested yesterday (20) by Dehiovita Police for assaulting a drunk person.
They were released on bail of Rs. 50,000 after being produced before the Avissawella Court. This attack happened on November 8.
The assault took place after the sergeant became angry as a drunken person started shouting obscenities in front of the Police Officer who was walking along with his wife and son.
The drunken person injured in the assault had received treatment from the Avissawella Hospital.
