Police have revealed further details about a shooting incident in Akadegoda, Kosgoda, where a group of suspects had allegedly been staying at a house while preparing to kill four individuals.
Acting on information received by officers of the Walana Anti-Corruption and Strike Force, a team raided the house last night (October 3).
During the raid, one of the suspects opened fire at the police, prompting officers to return fire. One suspect was injured in the exchange, while another was arrested. A third suspect fled the scene.
Police recovered the following from the house:
- A 9mm pistol
- A magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition
- A revolver with six rounds of ammunition
- Another 9mm magazine containing six rounds
- A foreign-manufactured hand grenade
- A motorcycle fitted with a fake number plate, allegedly prepared for use in committing a crime
- A three-wheeler
The injured suspect was admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital.
The arrested suspects are aged 32 and 33 and are residents of the Maha Induruwa area.
The arrested suspect and the seized items have been handed over to the Kosgoda Police. Further investigations are being conducted by the Kosgoda Police and the Walana Anti-Corruption and Strike Force. (Newswire)
