Deputy Postmaster General (Operations). D.A. Rajitha K. Ranasinghe said that around 8,000 employees of the Postal Department have been deployed for the distribution of polling cards for the upcoming Parliamentary Election.
He said that the distribution of polling cards for the Parliamentary Election has already commenced and the distribution of polling cards in Colombo and Vanni districts started yesterday.
He said that the distribution was delayed in these two districts due to the Election Commission’s failure to provide the necessary household notices along with the polling cards.
He further said that the Election Commission has handed over the relevant household notices to the Postal Department and they have been forwarded to the designated post offices.
Election Commission Chairman R.M.A.L. Rathnayake said that any individual who does not receive their polling card by November 7 can collect them from the nearest post office.
