Pragyan Ojha replaces Ajit Agarkar as India’s chief selector

Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha has been named Chairman of India’s Men’s Selection Committee, replacing Ajit Agarkar, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on October 19.

The BCCI also confirmed the appointment of former India spinner Ramesh Powar to the selection committee following interviews conducted by its Cricket Advisory Committee.

Ojha will chair the five-member panel based on seniority, determined by the number of Test matches played.

The new selection committee comprises Pragyan Ojha (Chairperson), Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh, Ajay Ratra and Ramesh Powar.

Powar represented India in two Tests and 31 ODIs and previously served as head coach of India’s women’s team.

The BCCI also thanked outgoing chief selector Ajit Agarkar for his contribution since July 2023, highlighting India’s success in winning three ICC trophies, two Asia Cup titles and back-to-back Asian Games gold medals during his tenure. (Newswire)
