Prasad de Silva of Emjay International and Ishara Madurangi of Ports authority emerged Men’s and Women’s champions at 17th Tibhar All Island open ranking tournament which concluded at S.Thomas Indoor stadium, Mt.Lavinia over the weekend.
At the men’s open event Prasad de Silva beat Chameera Ginige by 3 to 1 while experienced Ishara beat current rank number 1 young Bimandie Bandara in thrilling five setter.
Meanwhile Janith Batugedara of Royal College won under 15 and 17 boys titles beating Safulla Akram of Hill Country International 3/2 and Dewmeth Weerasena of Lyceum 3/0 respectively.
Major General Rtrd. Kapila Hendawitharana (Former Chief of National Intelligence) was the chief guest at the award ceremony.
Tournament was organized by Tibhar Sports Club which headed by Namal Gunasekara and Buddhasiri Withanachchi.
