President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday (19) inaugurated the Wahalkada to the Biyagama Sri Sudharmarama Maha Vihara and the new Ath Pavura.
The President visited the temple and inquired about the construction work at the temple from the Chief Incumbent Ven. Beligala Amarasiri Thera.
The Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith invoking blessings on the President who was engaged in religious observances.
The largest Samadhi Buddha statue in South Asia is planned to be erected at the Sri Sudharmarama Temple. Ven. Beligala Amarasiri Thera presented a replica of the statue to the President.
The Maha Sangha, Cabinet and State Ministers from Gampaha District, Members of Parliament, People’s Representatives, members of the Viharastha Dayaka Sabha and residents of the area were also present.
