President Ranil Wickremesinghe paid homage to the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura and received blessings on Saturday morning (17).
Upon arriving at the historic shrine in Anuradhapura, the President first visited the Atamasthanadhipathi, Most Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera, inquired about his well-being and engaged in a cordial discussion. President Ranil Wickramasinghe then proceeded to Udamaluwa, where he participated in religious rites.
The Maha Sangha, led by Most Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera, recited Seth Pirith and blessed the President. The Chief Incumbent of the historic Lankarama Viharaya in Anuradhapura, Venerable Ralapanawe Dhammajothi Nayaka Thera delivered a special anusasana.
He remarked that President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s mission to safeguard the Sambuddha Sasana in the country will undoubtedly contribute to his future successes.
Meanwhile, the President also took the time to speak with the devotees who had come to pay homage to the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. He inquired about their well-being and engaged in friendly conversation. Ministers Prasanna Ranatunga, Kanchana Wijesekera, and Bandula Gunawardhana; State Ministers Shehan Semasinghe and Lasantha Alagiyawanna; Members of Parliament Vajira Abeywardena, Duminda Dissanayake, S.M. Chandrasena, Sampath Athukorala, and H.C. Muthukumarana; Chief of Presidential Staff and Senior Advisor to the President on National Security Sagala Ratnayaka; former Ministers Manusha Nanayakkara and P. Harrison; former Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith; and other distinguished guests were also in attendance.
