During the event, the President presented the “Vishishta Seva Vibhushana” medals to 57 serving and retired senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, and Air Force. The distinguished honor, established under a presidential proclamation, is awarded exclusively to regular force officers who have completed at least 25 years of continuous service with an unblemished record.
The President pointed out that one of the primary challenges facing the government is addressing the significant decline in the public service. He noted that the discipline, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by these senior military officers serve as an important benchmark for rebuilding the broader public sector.
