Chief Government Whip and Minister Prasanna Ranatunga on Monday (5) said that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has never attempted to split the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
The Minister said the President has always said that all should work together as a party.
A special discussion by SLPP members supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe, was held on Monday (5) at a hotel in Battaramulla. Ministers Ranatunga, Kanchana Wijesekera, Ramesh Pathirana and Ali Sabry were present.
At this discussion, attention was focused on the programme to inform the people at District level to ensure the victory of President Wickremesinghe at the upcoming Presidential election.
Q – There is an allegation that the President split the SLPP. What about that?
A – I say very responsibly, the President never tried to divide us. According to the opinion of the people of the country, all requested to make Ranil Wickemesinghe the President. He always said to us to work as a Party.
Q– Why can’t the Party agree?
A – Pohottuwa is a Party built by the sweat of people. This is not a Party suitable for rent, lease or sale to the rich. If the President is good in 2022, if he has fulfilled his responsibility correctly, why is he bad today?
