A large number of young people have come here today. This young generation may remember the situation in the country two years ago. The entire country was in darkness for twelve hours without electricity. The time without electricity is longer than the time with electricity. There were queues of seven or eight kilometers near the gas stations. No gas. No milk powder. There was no way to get rice to eat,
But this situation improved before Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe took over the country two months later. Now some say give them a try. We did an experiment in 2019. That experiment failed. That is why queues were formed all over the country. But this is not an opportunity to experiment.
We have a lot of debt to pay. Currently, an agreement has been reached with the International Monetary Fund for certain concessions, but the concession period will end in 2028.
We have to start paying the debt again from 2029. For this, the country’s economy should be strengthened. Currently, due to the measures we have taken, the country’s economy is stabilizing. If this situation collapses, we will not get another chance. This country is falling into the same situation as countries like Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan.
Therefore, we should win President Ranil Wickremesinghe in this presidential election. Together with all the parties including the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the United Podujana Peramuna and the United National Party, we have implemented the plan to defeat Ranil Wickremesinghe as President today.
We will win this presidential election. No doubt about it. According to all the neutral surveys conducted regarding the presidential election, President Ranil Wickremesinghe will win. Also, Mr. Sajith Premadasa and Mr. Anura Dissanayake started the campaign one and a half years ago. But both of them have not been able to reach their peak yet.
But it is not even a month since President Ranil Wickremesinghe started his campaign. He has surpassed both of them. The minister also said that it is a good sign that President Ranil Wickremesinghe will win.
