Dr. I. M. Illyas, a former Ayurvedic doctor who ran as an independent candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election, passed away at the Puttalam Base Hospital on Thursday 22 at the age of 79.
It must be noted that Dr.Idrees Mohamed Ilyas is a great person who is able to win the heart-felt love of the people of Puttalam.
He was a pioneer who raised his voice for justice for the innocent people who lost their lives due to the brutal shooting at Mohideen Jumma Masjith in Puttalam in 1976.
