The Election Commission announced that legal provisions have been made for voters who are fully or partially visually impaired or have physical disabilities to be accompanied by an assistant to mark the ballot paper at the polling stations at the upcoming Presidential election.
Issuing a media communiqué today (27) Chairman of the Election Commission R. M. A. L. Rathnayake stated that this provision has been made based on the Presidential Election Act No. 15 on 1981 Sub Sentence 38 (2) which has been revised by the 2011 No. 28 Election (Special Provisions) Act.
