Probe into impersonating HC judge

Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered on September 6 to file the telephone tower receiver records for the next Court case day regarding the alleged incident in which a telephone call from the prison has been  made to the Director of the Police Narcotics Bureau, Kamal Silva, to release two suspects in a case under investigation by falsely impersonating High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya.

When the case related to this incident was called for hearing in the open Court, the magistrate made this order after considering the request made by State Counsel Indika Nelumini, who represented the Attorney General’s Department.

H.P. Sujith Kumara who is said to have made this phone call from remand prison in connection with a heroin case was presented in the open court by Prison officials.

D.A.Udayashantha de Silva Abeysekara Yasaratne, a resident in Colombo 10 and the second witness of this incident who was called to testify, was presented to court by Prison officials.

The Criminal Investigation Department has investigated the alleged fake phone call to release Kehelkaduwa Vidanarachchilage Lakmal Priyadarshana aka Lakmal and Munisameelage Chandrani, who were allegedly in possession of 74 grams and 330 milligrams of heroin.
