The Anamaduwa Police has started an investigation to arrest a team of the Special Task Force, including a police inspector, who allegedly assaulted and abducted a Constable of the Nawagattegama Police and left him in a cemetery. The victim is a 56 year old police constable.
On Wednesday when he returned home in civilian clothes after his duties, a three-wheeler and a motorcycle were on the road near the house. As they had been near his house for a long time the constable had gone to them and had questioned about it.
At this time, three people in the three-wheeler had attacked the constable, forced him into the three-wheeler and drove him for several kilometers and left him in the Perayankulama cemetery.
The police constable, who was injured in the attack, has been admitted to the Anamaduwa hospital, and a complaint has been made to the Anamaduwa police.
According to the complaint made by the police constable, the subsequent investigation has revealed that the group was officers from the Puttalam Special Task Force camp. It is said that these officers had gone to Anamaduwa on duty for a raid.
